MacNews is an NNTP reader for the Apple Macintosh, which operates through a remote host (i.e. you must log into a mainframe - MacNews does not use TCP) It is fully capapble of reading, posting, and following up to articles, saving articles or appending them to a file, and of course, Cut, Copy, Paste.
MacNews can work with several different news servers, keeping track of which groups you have subscribed to at each site. Thus, you can use MacNews to read from your local news server, as well as a server like sol.ctr, switching between them easily.
In practice, MacNews is much faster to work with than running a newsreader via a terminal program. It lacks a little in versatility (no subject threading, no reply feature - yet), but then again it takes advantage of the features of the Macintosh.
